MET GALA 2015: My Best and Worst Dressed

I mean I'm by no means a fashion expert but I've still got some sense of what's hot and what's not so much. Here is my run down of the 2015 Met Gala red carpet fashion - the good, the down right ugly and everything in between. (All images sourced from

Grace Coddington

Rating: HELL NO. Seriously, I'm sorry this is gonna sound harsh but this looks like something you'd see someone rocking at the supermarket at 12am, not to one of fashion's biggest events, this is just straight up PJs that don't even fit her well! I wouldn't be so angry at this if the trousers weren't matching that in-your-face pattern, a classy pain of tailored cigarette trousers in black would've totally transformed this look for me, taking it from pyjama mess to oriental inspired chic.

Queen Bey and Jay Z

Rating: Ehhhhh. I'm so sorry beyhive, but this just doesn't work for me, the hair makes the gorgeous B look like an alien and it completely kills the look for me. The makeup isn't particularly exciting either, and the sheer dress was SO overdone this year that it just taints this for me. But I will give credit where it's due and say that Beyoncé's body looks INCREDIBLE, regardless of what she is wearing so I'm not too mad at this look.
Jay-Z looks simply elegant and classic, you just can't go wrong with this combo.

Rating: Oh dear. GIRL, why? I mean this is totally Rihanna, she's always known to be eccentric but this just looks like a canary threw up on her or she just took the throw off her bed and called it an outfit, and it totally does nothing for her rocking figure but her legs are amazing so... And I suppose this shade of yellow does really suit her skin tone, I'm just not a fan of the form it's presented in.

Rating: 100% YES. She looks like a modern take of a Victorian badass princess, also kinda like the Red Queen from Alice in Wonderland. I love EVERYTHING about this look, it's the perfect mix of girly and edgy and her hair and makeup compliment the dress perfectly too.

Helen Mirren

Rating: Gorgeous without breaking a sweat. Chic, stylish and flattering but not OTT, which suits this Dame oh so perfectly. A beautiful example of how to age in the most graceful and stunning way!

Linda Evangelista

Rating: Did someone tell her it's not Christmas? This is so unflattering and creased and just meh that it hurts. The bow is placed all wrong and the material is just so bad. This reminds me of my own prom dress in year 11 and not in a good way, it's just a shame really. BUT to finish on a lighter note, I do really like the understated makeup and her hair is really cute.

Kim K and Kanye

Rating: I don't love it but it's not awful. Kim has said that this was inspired by Cher's dress from the very first Gala, but in my opinion this design should've stayed with Cher in the '70s. Although it does fit the eccentricity that's particular to the Met Gala. Once again the sheer dress wasn't cutting it for me, and it does very little for Kim's petite yet curvy figure, but it's a huge improvement from her 2013 look (you all know the one).
Kanye, on the other hand, kills it once again, I love his all black ensemble although I will say there's something a bit Hugh Hefner about it.

Rose Byrne

Rating: LOVE LOVE LOVE. I am totally speechless at how gorgeous she looks! Stunning, flattering, classy but sexy. Makeup and hair totally on point, not much else to say, she knocked it out of the park. Major style crush.

Imogen Poots

Rating: Gothic Princess sent from the Gods. I feel like I've seen this look before, maybe on a runway somewhere, but either way I am in love. Edgy and feminine and perfectly matched with the red makeup (which is hard to pull off without looking ill).

Kendall Jenner

Rating: Just YAS. Sneakily sexy and mysterious with the exposed sides, quite a classic Kendall trademark. I'm not so sure about the particular shade of green, I would've liked to see the dress in a brighter emerald colour, but otherwise this is utter perfection.

Justin Bieber

Rating: Greatness. I'll admit I'm not particularly a fan of Bieber but this look is so structured, with something almost Steampunk about it, I just love it. I love that he toned the eccentric jacket down with all black and minimal accessories.

Fan Bing Bing

Rating: Ancient Egyptian Royalty. YES YES YES YES YES. Need I say more? (Image source: Getty Images)

And so concludes my very long Met Gala rundown. I think overall, this event is meant to make people try out more daring styles, and most of the red carpet stars looked pretty great, however some people seemed to just miss the mark. There's always next year though right?

A few more honourable mentions which I loved: Li Bingbing, Jullianne Moore, Kristen Wiig, Shu Pei Qin, Claire Danes, Dakota Johnson, Cher, Amal Clooney, Ni Ni, Uma Thurman, Jessica Chastain, Emma Roberts, Vanessa Hudgens, Rosie Huntingdon-Whiteley, Elizabeth Banks, Maggie Q, Lizzie Caplan.

Honestly, if I were to go into detail about all the looks I loved, we'd be here all year until the next one haha.

Which look was your favourite and your worst dressed? Let me know in the comments, I'd love to find out!
