Top 5 Makeup Essentials

Well hello there! In today's post I wanted to challenge myself to narrow down my top 5 makeup essentials. As someone who can easily get swept up using 17 or 18 products when doing my makeup I wanted to think of the product lineup I simply can't live without.

So here are the products I reach for if I have a short 10 minutes to get ready.
For my base I always use my Real Techniques Complexion Perfection Sponge with whichever foundation and concealer I choose, it's seemingly the only tool that doesn't allow foundation to settle on any dry patches of my skin, which is essential because my entire face is flaky and dry! When this miracle sponge is combined with my favourite foundation, Bourjois' Healthy Mix Serum, I can occasionally get away without primer or even moisturiser if I'm in a rush or just having a good skin day (especially if I'm being good with my skincare, which you can read about here). This foundation is amazing for dry skin as it has a lightweight formula that doesn't cling to dry patches and has a light to medium coverage that I absolutely love.

(please excuse how well loved these products look)

For lips I tend to go for a warm darker nude colour for everyday look and if I know I'm going to be out for a while I always reach for Kat Von D's Lolita, its the perfect dark nude that doesn't wash my pale face out any further and is versatile so I can wear it with any eye makeup I choose to do - the perfect failsafe!

When it comes to eye makeup I tend to play around the most in this area, changing up colour combinations quite regularly. However, if I have 5 minutes to get out of the door I always default to copper shades and a classic wing. It's the best combination for my green eyes and for my eye shape. Collection's Fast Stroke liner is my holy grail, it's the one eyeliner I've found that is ridiculously affordable, is matte instead of glossy and that lasts on my oily eyelids. For the copper shadow I usually switch it up between powders and creams but I have really been loving this Rimmel Kate cream eyeshadow stick lately - great pigmentation that lasts but is easy to blend out in a rush.

What are your top 5 makeup must haves? Let me know!

Until next time,
Emilija x
